MyCherryCV is built so you stay in control of the information you share. This page explains what we collect, what we do with it, and how long it stays around.
What we collect
Your profile answers
We collect only what you put into the questionnaire. That means your responses about preferences, boundaries and desires. We do not collect your name, email or phone number. We also do not ask for any details that could identify you, unless you choose to add them to your profile.
Technical information
We collect the minimum technical data the app needs to run: your browser and device type, plus any accessibility preferences you set. Analytics, advertising and tracking cookies are off by default and only run if you opt in. We do not sell your data.
Local storage
While you answer the questionnaire, your responses sit in your browser's local storage. They do not leave your device until you choose to create or update a profile.
How we use your data
- ✓Making your profile: to turn your responses into a shareable profile you can send to someone.
- ✓Comparing: to show where your profile and someone else's line up, only when you open a shared link.
- ✓Improving the app: sometimes we look at grouped data that cannot identify anyone to make questions and features better.
- ✗What we do not do: sell, rent or share your data with anyone else. Advertising, profiling and tracking are off by default. We do not use your data for anything outside running the app.
How we keep data hard to trace
Encryption: data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS, and our database and cache are encrypted at rest by our hosting provider.
Random links: profile IDs are generated randomly and cannot be linked back to you. If someone finds your profile link, they cannot tell who made it.
View counts: we do not record who looks at your profile. View counts are stored as daily totals that do not identify anyone.
Collecting less: we only collect the data the app needs to work.
Where your data lives
Hosting: MyCherryCV runs on Railway, using a managed PostgreSQL database and Redis cache. Data is encrypted while it moves and when it is stored.
Comparison analysis: if you use the comparison feature, an external service creates the analysis on our server. That happens without your name, email or any identifiers.
Bot protection: we use Cloudflare Turnstile to stop automated abuse. It is designed not to collect personal data.
Google Analytics: if you opt in, Google will collect page view data as an external service. We do not share your profile answers or identifying details with Google.
Error monitoring: crash reports go to Sentry through our own tunnel, so your IP address is not shared with outside trackers.
Your control and rights
Sharing: you decide when and with whom to share. Your profile is only reachable through the unique link you make.
Deleting: you can delete your profile at any time. It is removed from our database immediately. The links you make can expire when you set them to, work once, or you can burn them. Unused links expire after one year.
Exporting: you can view and export your responses from your profile page.
Accessibility settings: your font, size and theme choices stay on your device.
Legal compliance
Age requirement: you must be 18 or older to use MyCherryCV. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Regulations: we follow GDPR, CCPA and other data rules where they apply. You can ask to access, correct or delete your data at any time.
Law enforcement: we do not hand over personal data to police or law enforcement. MyCherryCV is pseudonymous by design. We collect no name, email or other identifying details, so we cannot link a profile to a person and have no personal data to hand over.
Children and young people
Age restriction: MyCherryCV is only for adults aged 18 and over. Under the UK Online Safety Act 2023, we have to stop children from accessing adult services. We do this through:
- ✓An age-confirmation gate shown to every new visitor before they see adult content.
- ✓Clear 18+ labelling on pages with adult content.
- ✓Terms of Service that ban use by anyone under 18 and let us end access if we find a minor is using the service.
No data from minors: we do not knowingly collect, store or process data from anyone under 18. If we find out a minor has used the service, we will remove their data and stop them from accessing it.
Reporting: if you think a minor has used this service, or you are worried about a child, please contact us. We treat these reports as a priority.
When this policy changes
We may update this page from time to time. If we make a significant change, we will show a notice in the app or update the date at the top of this page.
Your data choices
Google Analytics is off by default. If you enable it, Google will collect page view data as an external service. We do not share your profile or answers with Google.
Your browser and device type, time on pages and page views would be sent to Google. You can turn this off at any time.
Marketing and communications
If you opt in, we may send you updates about new features, educational content and community announcements. This is completely optional and you can change your mind at any time.
